ABOUT
The Military Coordination and Planning Committee (the MCPC) was created in 2020, based on the recommendations of a community Joint Land Use Study, completed in 2018. The Committee is made up of staff representatives from local governments, the Miami County Economic Development Authority, and Grissom Air Reserve Base, and has as its primary purpose to facilitate land use coordination between the base and the community in order to maintain compatibility between land uses on Grissom ARB and those in the surrounding community.
This website serves a “clearinghouse” for the activities of the MCPC and a reference for local property owners and governmental agencies with questions about land uses and property development in the region and, in particular, how Grissom’s operations are relevant to those uses.
A particularly urgent aspect of this coordination effort relates to the growing interests of the private sector in development wind and solar renewable facilities in our region. For that reason, the MCPC has devote a separate section of the website specifically to this subject. See the “Renewable Energy & the Base” tab above.
If you are a property owner or local official with questions about land use compatibility in Miami, Cass, Howard, or Wabash Counties, please contact the Chair of the MCPC. Contact information is provided under the Contact tab above.
This website is maintained by the Miami County Economic Development Authority (MCEDA), which sponsored the 2018 Grissom ARB Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) and related JLUS implementation projects. MCEDA, a unique public-private partnership, is the primary economic and community development organization for Miami County.
